on my coffee table this week...

another week, another selection.
another chance for me to admire my coffee table.

book: the day aberystwyth stood still, by malcolm pryce
i won't lie... i haven't read this yet, nor do i intend to for a few weeks yet.
i bought it on sunday and i'm going to be taking it with me on holiday in september.

i have however read: 'aberystwyth mon amour', 'last tango in aberystwyth',
'the unbearable lightness of being in aberystwyth', 'don't cry for me aberystwyth'
and 'from aberystwyth with love' so i know what i'm getting here.

cd: the crazy world of jess franco: jess franco and his big band
the tracks on this cd are all taken from the films of jess franco

here... have a look at the back of the cd case too, it's very well done
i particularly like the track "see through panties" from the film
"la chica de las bragas transparentes"
this is great music to play while waiting for the pizza delivery boy to turn up
or even to play while eating a kebab and dripping oil down your arm.

dvd: submarine
i saw this on saturday night and i recommend it to you very much.
more than anything i'd say it's a really stylishly made film.
you might not identify with the main character ( unless you're a teenage boy )
but chances are you'll like this film.

the dvd i bought comes with 5 postcards of the main characters and a
small booklet which is an excerpt from the novel on which the film is based.

oh, one more thing... is it just me or does the main boy remind
you of alex turner from the arctic monkeys ? ( who supplies original songs to this film )
and does the main girl remind you of gemma arterton ?

go check it out and get back to me.
