good work in savile row

i went back to evisu on savile row yesterday.

they're still at it... hand painting union jacks on 29 pairs of jeans.

all done freehand, no stencils

it needs a steady hand

and the last thing you need is a photographer getting in your way.
asking stupid questions and cracking old jokes.

still, with two people working at it and three coats per union jack
they should have all 29 pairs done by christmas

oh, they hand paint the union jack on your choice of pocket by the way
and then hand paint the 'seagull' on the other pocket in your choice of gold or silver.

see the pair in the foreground... the pair with no paint on them yet...
i reckon they're my size !

after annoying the staff at evisu i strolled along savile row back to my jam jar.
looking down into a basement i saw a proper old-school tailor...

none of that 'painting on selvedge denim' nonsense for this bloke
bespoke suits. that's what savile row is all about.

supposedly the word 'bespoke' originates from savile row... did you know that ?
