saturday and the union jack

on saturday i had a wander around the west end. no particular plan,
just a walk around st. james's park and a stroll around a few art galleries
and shops. oh i tell a lie, i did have a plan... i went to buy a kate and william
royal wedding plate but i could only find small ones, not the large one that i wanted.
grrr !

after the disappointment of the royal wedding plate situation, my mood lightened
a little when i spotted this shop in princes arcade ( between piccadilly and jermyn street )
nice union jacks on display alongside the stripey blazers.

and woah... not bad. posh slippers with union jack crystal skulls

in sackville street i spotted this amazing original lithograph from 1950.
ok, it was covered in plastic and behind glass but trust me, this was a thing of beauty.
if the shop was open and i had a spare £750 on me i'd have bought it in a flash.

oh... here's a better view of it...
you beauty !

just around the corner was savile row. i dropped into evisu to see what was new.
the union jack theme continued as i saw these bad boys on display...
on the patch, the date 29-04-11 was the royal wedding date and evisu
were hand painting union jacks onto 29 pairs of jeans.
that's right, a limited edition pair of jeans... a limited edition of only 29 !
this pair on display was number 1 and nearby...

one of the evisu lads was working on number 3
nice...

he told me that each union jack is given three coats before being glazed and sealed
only 29 pairs !

29 pairs !
you beauty !
