christmas cards 2011

it's been a whitfield tradition for some years now to send handmade

christmas cards to the select few.

yesterday afternoon i knocked out the first batch of this year's efforts.

it's supposed to be a deconstructed illustration of a sprig of holly by the way.

the nordic bakery

outstanding work from the nordic bakery

chocolate coated blueberries.

they taste good but more importantly, the packaging is excellent.

nice simple typeface... three too many capital letters for my liking but

very acceptable indeed.

self-portrait in so42

so42 ?

team whitfield bring a little bit of n7 mood to the new forest

lana del rey - born to die

i know... but this is a real grower. trust me.

more stickers

the third batch of stickers arrived at whitfield towers on saturday

the usual mix of stuff... coffee, self-portraits, food and a shot i did of the king.

i realise it's unlikely anybody will want a sticker of me having an outdoor shower

but maybe i'll send it to my mum for christmas ?

what ?

i'll definitely send one to my friend 'jeff to base'

and one to gooner jeff

i'll also give a few to stel

and stick a few on the lamp-posts of n7

but if anybody else wants one or two...

they will be given away as consolation prizes soon...

( as soon as i think of a competition )

harris tweed

3rd choice: ginza

leave a comment if you can help. cheers.

new camera

this has taken ages and it's a long story... a story i can't really be bothered telling.

remember i told you i was buying a new camera... it was months ago.

well a week ago the final part of the camera turned up...

it's quite a special camera. it's in four parts... well, five really because these

four bits don't include a lens.

wait a minute, the big box with 287 on it was the roberu x 6shiki camera strap

( which didn't even fit the camera ! )

anyway, box 1

it's a camera body. a ricoh gxr

well, it's kind of a camera body

it's a tiny thing too

here's another view of it

it's a camera body but without a lens, sensor or viewfinder ( or strap ! )

it doesn't look promising does it ?

still...

it's supposed to be pretty good when you put it all together

we'll see how that goes ( © bad twin )

box 2

contained an evf

box 3

arrived last week. it's not available in the uk yet. i got mine from tokyo.

it's the final piece in the puzzle

it's an adaptor with built in sensor.

the gxr uses a camera body and has a variety of modules which slide in.

each has a different lens and each lens comes with a different sensor.

the thing i have here is the slide-in lens / sensor unit

but without a lens.

it's the lens unit but with an adaptor on it to take leica m-series lenses

( of which i have 4, but only one leica body )

so here's the camera with all the pieces put together

apart from a strap which doesn't fit... grrr !

and here's the camera ready to use, with a 35mm f.2 lens

now all i need is a strap that fits and something to photograph,

then i'll be back with a full report.
