n7 project ( friend of agent y )

i'm currently in the middle of an n7 project which i hope will result in an exhibition
later in the year.

it's a series of portraits of people who live and work in n7.

here's a sneak preview of the project, which will include a half-length
and full-length portrait of every subject.

let me introduce you to a friend of agent y.

sp3 ?

why not ?

on a glorious day in the great british summer ( leave it )
i had a road trip to wiltshire.

in a shock move i treated myself to an outdoor self-portrait.

since i bought my latest iphone cover i'm always on the lookout in cafes and pubs
for a table with similar wood. during a shoot on friday i found a table top that was
the closest thing i've seen so far...

the london coffee festival

a few weeks ago now, i headed out east for the london coffee festival.

here, in no particular order, are a load of snapshots from the time i spent there.

1
these are some of the judges at the barista championships.
i doubt they had much sleep that night.

2
like a magpie, i was attracted to all the bright shiny things on display

3
er... some stickers

4
keep cups were representing in a big way at the london coffee festival.

5
a load of lads watching a roasting.

6
some lads making my first coffee of the day

10
this was the side of the roasting machine... great stuff.

11
i wish this was a scratch 'n' sniff blog

12
another shot of the limited edition ( leave it ) keep cup

13
what a sensible slogan.

14
people making decent coffee

15
maverick coffee making at the barista championships

16

17
just before the moment i discovered n7 only has one rated coffee venue.

18

19
somebody making me a flat white.

20
not roasting coffee beans, but roasting a hog.

21

22

23

24

27
oh dear... somebody making me another flat white

28
oh dear... my next flat white

29
a genius at work

30
and here preparing his signature drink

31
wait for it...

32
it was round about now that the barista informed the judges that his
signature drink "is all about two visits to the cup"

33
the visits to the coffee cup were interspersed with a sip of freshly squeezed grapefruit
juice and also, well i don't want to give too much away but let me just say that
star anise was mentioned...

34
after milking the applause ( leave it ) the barista was interviewed.
i must say he was top man.

35
the essentials for making two visits to the cup

36
personally, i made one more visit to a familiar cup... a takeaway flat white.

but by now i had the right old 'hattie jacques' so i fled the london coffee festival
and headed over to 1948 with two mates.

it was a great way to spend a friday afternoon.

suus

did anybody out there watch eurovision 2012 on saturday ?

i'm a big fan of it to be honest. although there are a lot of rubbish songs
on the night, i always find one or two gems each year that make it onto my
iphone playlist.

my favourite song this year was "suus" by rona nishliu ( albania )

interested ? then check out the video below...

sure, i'd have preferred a slightly more pretentious video, and i think the lesson
learned from it is that it's difficult to chalk onto a mirror.

still, i really like the song, it's a real grower and rona has got a fantastic hobson's.

if it was bjork singing it in english i think it'd be a hit, so give it a chance
and listen to an albanian girl singing her heart out.
nice one rona.

and the vote just in from n7... albania 12 points.
