road trip

i had a bit of a road trip yesterday.
early morning start.
in the car at 5.28am !

i arrived in lymm, cheshire 90 minutes early for my shoot.
unfortunately, even though the coffee machine was on and the manager
made a coffee for himself, the chef and also for the two cleaners...
i was not offered a drink.

hence my even more moody than usual expression when i did
my traditional self-portrait.
john smedley top
stüssy / dickies workpants
nike air yeezys

after waving a cheery goodbye to lymm, i headed off to the lake district...

although, seeing as i hadn't had breakfast yet, i decided to stop off and visit an old friend...
the fishician. the chippy in my old home town.
i used to queue up here at school lunchtimes with mike astley and his brother rich,
not thinking for one moment that little rich would one day become v famous indeed.
hmmm...

check out the menu...
luckily enough, they never had 'donner meat' when i was a nipper.

nice to see that they still sell barms.

i do like the lunchtime special menu
as far as i know, 'dinner' just means 'and chips'

here's my haul from the fishician...
i think it's a 3-d bag.
by the way, it was so heavy i think ryanair would have charged
me an extra £30 for it... if they were actually flying that is.

and here's what was inside the bag...
chips, fish, peas and gravy
( or as the locals say... " a split, fish 'n gravy " )

it was with a heavy heart and an even heavier stomach, that i said goodbye to
newton-le-willows and headed for the m6 and hopefully a decent coffee.

i stopped off at lancaster services. i used to love this place as a kid.
it seemed so futuristic and had a sci-fi look about it. i probably
imagined it had something to do with aliens and ufo's...

as an adult i discovered that it certainly has nothing to do with good coffee
this was costa coffee's idea of a flat white.
it was foul.

after a very picturesque drive i finally arrived at broughton-in-furness.
what a beautiful and peaceful part of the country.
i parked up outside the restaurant i was going to photograph
i was offered a coffee straight away and was so happy that i forgot to
photograph it !

after the shoot i went for a very scenic drive through coniston and ambleside
and treated myself to a little something for the journey home...
old school.
