cc the world

so... i can't get this tune out of my head.

by all means watch the whole film, but if it gets a bit too
pretentious for you, just skip to 3 minutes in and listen to the song.

then get annoyed with me tonight when in your head you keep hearing "c-c"

and

"the woooooorrrrrllllddd"

train and vain

there's a song by the clash called 'train in vain' which is an absolute blinder.
it's one of the songs i like to listen to while i'm running... when i'm training
for the 10k i'm going to attempt to run on november 2nd.

it's kind of an apt title as you know i like to take the odd self-portrait.

what i've been doing lately is taking photos of myself in the gym changing room at whitfield towers. sometimes i take a before and after photo, sometimes just an 'after' photo.

anyway, here are a few.

this is the first photo i took, after my first run.
i think i managed to run for just over 15 minutes.
i was running at 13k/hour, which i found to be a little tiring shall we say.

next up, when i decided it would be a good idea to run in a long sleeved top
it seemed like a good idea here, as i stood posing for the 'before' pic

however
afterwards i was sweating like john galliano at a bar mitzvah
and was regretting the choice of a heavy long sleeved top
more than somewhat.

back to a thinner short sleeve t-shirt next time
posing confidently before my run

after my run ( 5km in 27 minutes )

after wearing grey tops for two runs on the bounce, i decided that
walking around looking sweaty wasn't a good look so i opted for black
here i am before my run

and after
not much difference really.
maybe i look a little angrier and my hair is a little rougher
but no signs of exhaustion.
well played black t-shirt.

for my next trick, i decided to run in an old wales away footy shirt
before the run, posing confidently as 'land of our fathers' plays on my ipod

6k later
and i'm beginning to doubt i'll ever manage to run for 10k

next time up i didn't do a before photo,
just this shot after i'd run for 5k ( in 26 minutes )
aside from the damage to my knees, feet and hair, i must say that
although i don't enjoy running, i do enjoy the feeling afterwards...
the feeling that i've done something. used a bit of will power and run harder
and further than my body ( and hair ) wanted to.

oh, and i do enjoy posing for self-portraits afterwards.

thank-you to everybody who has chipped in and sponsored me
and my daughter so far.

a gift from bristol

after design junction there was an event called bob
( best of britannia )
which sock club london attended.

at bob one day i was introduced to a person i'd never met before.

this person took a look at me and said " are you a medium ?"

i told him that i had never claimed to be in contact with the spirits of the dead,
nor could i communicate between the dead and the living.

he then handed me a t-shirt and said
"this is for you... you look like a medium"

here's the front of the tee

and here's the back

message ends.

two in a day

one day during design junction i had to get in a bit late as i had two restaurant
interiors to photograph for a magazine.

one was early morning in covent garden.

the other just before lunchtime in shoreditch
both reviews have been published now.
the french joint got a decent review.
sadly the mexican place received a less favourable one.

as you can see, i enjoyed myself at both places.

odds and ends

while i'm on a roll let me shift some pics that have been kicking around in my blog
folder for a minute.

have you seen these before ?

how about these ?

these seemed like a good idea at the time.

i must have shown you these ?
air max 1's from last november.
london underground editions.

and the air max 90 versions

some socks made especially for me by some kind gentlemen in nyc

exactly what it says

don't ask.

a photo i took with a proper camera of me taking a photo with my phone

the subject was eventually published here:

design junction pics

design junction was almost a month ago now.

i think i showed you a few pics here from the sock club london stand,
but let me go through my blog folder and see if i have any other pics
kicking around from design junction.

i had to do a group shot of some designers early one morning.
this is one of the shots i took when i was setting up.

another version where somebody pushed a rubbish skip through the background while
i was trying to pose like a designer.

what's the collective noun for a load of designers ?
a collection ?

i've no idea who these three lads are but after the group pic they asked if i would take a photo of them as they were old friends or some such.

they asked if i could send the pic to them and i said yes, gave them my card and asked
them to email me and i'd send it.

did they email me ?

no.

so lads... if you want a hi-res of this pic just email me.

i had to shoot a portrait of a couple of chefs at design junction one morning.
this was my first frame

moving in a little and getting that table out of the way

chefs posing like bosses.

excellent !

of course before i did the portraits of the chefs i had my assistant stand in
may i draw your attention to somebody skulking about on the right hand side...
in the kitchen...

and as surely as night follows day
me and my assistant... and the chef.

at design junction i met some complete strokers,
but i did also meet some absolutely lovely people.

these two from the emerald isle were maybe the nicest people i met all week.

in the modus room at design junction i really fancied having my photo taken against this big circular pattern.
one of the girls from modus decided i couldn't have a solo shot there.

then her mate chipped in too.

i'm pretty sure this girl hated me

this lady was late for the designer's group photo so i had to photograph
her by herself.
i had no idea who she was until after she'd gone.
turns out she designs a load of stuff i really like.

plus my mum has written to her and she replied.
( don't ask )

a great bloke i met at the coffee shop in design junction

the chap from waterford doing his thing.
genius !

and finally. this mirror / light attracted phone cameras like moths to the flame.

design junction was an interesting event. if you didn't visit, i strongly recommend you
do next year. it's an amazing thing. well worth seeing.

ouch !

i did a shoot for tallulah lingerie the other week.

they have some great stuff.

i wouldn't recommend running a 10k in these though.

the italian job

i did a shoot last friday with an italian assistant.

she kept asking me to speak a little more slowly
( or should it be less quickly ? )

but aside from the language barrier we had a grand old time.
here she is standing in for paddington bear
( don't ask )

and here she is standing in for a larger than life irishman.
( don't ask )

we were not impressed with the chef's sausage game.

but we couldn't argue with his take on toffee apples.

hypebeast feature on sock club london x globetrotter sock case

a few weeks ago hypebeast did a little feature on sock club london.

here are the three photos they published

have a looky at the feature here:
