more from koh samui

ok i reckon one more day after this and then this blog will be back to normal.

for today though... more iphone pics from last week in koh samui.
maybe some of them i managed to publish last week but if so, i think they
are worth seeing again when they are followed by other pics from the same day.
also perhaps they are improved by a little photoshop ?

1
although i had my own private pool and a bloke making me omelettes
every morning, i still managed to look miserable for two weeks.

2
this was when i was having my breakfast on 13th january...
( my birthday )
some thai bloke shimmied up all the trees with an axe tucked into his belt
and hacked away at the coconuts and branches

3
falling branch alert

4
to my embarrassment, as i was just finishing my omelette
some staff came over singing 'happy birthday' and presented me with a cake.
what a nice gesture.
some of my fellow breakfast diners joined in and applauded too.
i was so tempted to stand up and give a speech... maybe tell a few jokes
and sing a couple of songs, but just as i was about to stand up, somebody
'accidentally' kicked me under the table... and the moment was lost.

5
my birthday suit.
swim shorts and t-shirt by orlebar brown
very tidy.

6
as a photographer, it's always a bit of a dilemma as to what kit to take on holiday.
for this trip i took just one camera... my fuji x100.
it's a really tricky camera to use. not at all user friendly.
i have a bit of a love / hate relationship with it.
or at least i did.
nowadays i love it.

7
sunset on january 13th 2013
( my birthday )

8
dessert menu at a restaurant i ate at on my birthday.
bacon and eggs for dessert ?
what the what ?!

9
embarrassment again.
after dessert the waitress brought out a birthday cake as she sang
'happy birthday'
i was about to stand up when i remembered the bruise on my shin.

10
one of the nicest emails i've received in a while.
all in lower case.
excellent.

11
even better.
lower case and in orange !

many thanks.

12
i took 6 pairs of shorts with me so choosing which to wear each day was
often a tricky decision for me.

13
choosing breakfast was easy though.
omelette with ham, sausage, bacon, cheese and peppers ( red and green )
this time i accessorised with 3 potato croquettes, a slice of smoked turkey
and some swiss cheese.

14
my whites.
hat and t-shirt by stüssy

15
finalhome likes a bit of stüssy too.
here he shelters under a stüssy hand towel.

16
what the what ?!
this lad kept me company one afternoon while i was relaxing by the pool.
grrr !

17
each day there would be a breakfast special alongside the regular items.
on january 14th
( my birthday boxing day )
it was bacon butties.

18
i had an omelette with ham, sausage, bacon, cheese and peppers
( red and green but not yellow )
the three potato croquettes were a standard request but today i shunned the beans.

19
holy focaccia !
battenberg for breakfast !
( my favourite cake )

20
this is me heading back to my table with my 5th slice of battenberg.
i was under the impression that battenberg counted as one of my 5-a-day
so by having 5 slices...

21
i do like bape. you know that right ?
i love the logos but also the fact that they put in so much detail on their pieces.
even the ape head logo on the t-shirt has apehead camo stitched onto it.
an apehead on an apehead but the whole thing is about 17mm in length.
the watch face too has some tiny apeheads in the camo plus some great
slogans in place of the rolex words.

22
finalhome likes chips.
what can i say ?

23
a load of my footprints in the sand.
bapesta footprints.

more tomorrow.

more

more iphone pics from koh samui

1
one of the few things i like about the iphone camera is the panoramic mode.
it saves me taking 20-odd pics and sticking them together like i used to.
this was the view i spent almost two weeks looking at.
it was a beautiful view. hard to improve on it.

2
but i tried.

3
this bloke would walk along the beach a few times each day selling little wooden
birds and what not. they were kind of impressive and moved nicely in the breeze.

4
5 days later i'm in n7 looking out at a park full of snow.
grrr ! / brrr !

5
another day, another berry smoothie

6
cheers !

7
holiday footwear. bapestas from maybe 4 or 5 years ago.

8
another day another omelette.
i had to watch the omelette man like a hawk in case he tried to slip
some yellow peppers into the mix and spoil the whole thing.

9
perfect.

10
two strong lattes to go with my breakfast

11
followed by a berry smoothie.

12
learning to love yourself, is the greatest love of all.

13
this was taken a minute walk from the previous photo but facing the other way

14
some bape labels.
my bag, t-shirt shorts pocket and shorts cord.

15
my holiday watch of choice. bapex daytona sitting in a bapesta footprint on the beach.

16
for some reason i thought it would be a good idea to take some photos
of my watch getting wet.

17
hmmm...

18
i really should have checked if it was waterproof first.

19
i just liked this. i think it appealed to my ocd if that's the right way to say it.
it was the light switch and doorbell outside my room.
i like that the doorbell is in a little wooden box with a slopey roof.
i'd like one of those for the doorbell at whitfield towers.

20
there was an eastern european girl staying at the resort.
well, there were many, but this one in particular would pose for photos
most days. her mum would take lots of photos of her posing...
er, how can i say ?... is provocatively the word ? yes, i think so.
this is the most reasonable pose i saw her do.

21
an australian bloke with what i can only describe as a 'shit tattoo'
death having a half-hearted attempt at dj-ing.

he should have phoned the fosters help-line for advice before he got that one.

more nonsense tomorrow.

more holiday pics

some more iphone photos from thailand last week

1
while i was on holiday i read a book called '600 days of edward'
sadly, it kind of reminded me of me.
i would say it was a good book... certainly an easy, quick book to read.
if you get a chance you should read it.
when you've read it you will have an insight into how i like my food and drink.
for instance, i think i stayed at this resort for say 10 breakfasts.
for 8 of those breakfasts i got the chef to make me an omelette.
the same omelette.
not only did i have to tell him each day what i wanted in the omelette
but i also had to stop him each day from putting other things in the omelette
and from putting salad on the plate.

2
because if some salad touched my omelette, then i couldn't eat it.
right ?

what ?

3
of course an omelette does need a little help.
so each day i called for reinforcements... there they are on my extra plate.

4
3 potato croquettes, 2 pieces of bacon and...

5
...some baked beans.

the omelette by the way has the following fillings:
ham, bacon, sausage, cheese and peppers ( red and green but not yellow )

what ?

6
another part of my breakfast ritual was to have a mixed berry smoothie
after my second strong latte.
i think i had one every day.

7
blue skies and all that

8
one of the pools.
this one was my favourite pool.
the other pool wasn't a perfect rectangle, it had all sticky out bits.

9
another day another omelette
ham, bacon, sausage, cheese and peppers ( red and green but not yellow )

10
as surely as night follows day.
as surely as arsene wenger thinks arsenal were robbed after losing a game.
another berry smoothie for me.

11
stüssy hat, bape camo shorts, bape camo bag, ( multee ) project caribiner.

12
the view from my lounger / pod thing

13
do you like snakes ?
like spiders and red trousers i am pretty scared of snakes.
even now i can't believe i was brave enough to get this close to this lad.
plus i knew he wouldn't be impressed when the flash went off when i took his photo.
still, it's all about overcoming your fears right ?
maybe one day i'll try yellow peppers in my omelette ?

14
though i don't appreciate red trousers, i do like these red camo cargo shorts.
they are by a bathing ape. so were my trainers of choice for this trip.

15
what the what ?!
i was tempted away from the omelette man by the 'special' of the day.
this day it was steak and egg.
it was a schoolboy error... i should have had an omelette.

16
do you like coffee in a glass ? so you can see the layers of coffee and milk ?
i don't.

17
then again, in silhouette it's ok.
as you can see, breakfast was almost served on the beach.
fair enough.

18
boss behaviour.

more tomorrow.
