rival joustas

my friend g-film used to manage a band called "rival joustas"

4 of the nicest young lads you could hope to meet.
talented, funny and with good hair !

i did quite a lot of photography for them and i thought i'd show some of
my favourite shots here...

first up, let me introduce you to the band...
left to right: morgan ( drums )   ben ( bass )    tom ( vocals )   scott ( guitar )

they rarely stood still for a photo, infact this is what usually happened
when i tried to get them to pose...

in fairness, tom was always up for posing
this was in scotland, on tour with the mystery jets.

this photo of ben in full flight was taken in spain, where they recorded their album.
top man ben...

here's morgan in the studio

and scott doing his thing...

and of course ben,

they could play well in the studio, and they looked good on camera,
but playing live... playing live they were something special.
pretty pointless trying to show a live gig with stills but anyway...

here's tom doing his thing in manchester

i think this shot was just down the road at highbury corner

this shot of ben was in birmingham.
i remember him nearly hitting me with his bass

the rest of the live pics were taken in camden when they were
playing with the mystery jets and the spinto band

a rare shot of tom standing still

check out morgan's hair in the background

and finally, my favourite live shot of the joustas...
morgan taking a breather between songs.
i love the silhouette.

good times.

little one

i was just looking through an old hard drive and found these pics of
one of my favourite ever assistants ( but don't tell her that )

i used to call her little one

here's a shot of us taking a break from doing a shoot in an
architect's house... please ignore my barnet.

maybe i'm not helping here. shooting from above made her look even smaller.
and unhappier.

here she is preparing her trademark move... whenever i took my eye off her
she would clip my head with the lastolite. grrr !

she was a cheeky little thing

she stopped working for me when she moved to brighton 3 years ago to go to uni.

a little while ago i had a shoot in brighton, so i gave her a call and
we did one more job together.
look how happy we were to be working with each other again.

an advantage of digital cameras

one of the good things about digital cameras is being able to check
what you've just photographed and make sure it looks ok.

i just found these old pics from a wedding a few years ago.
( sorry i only have these lo-res pics )
look at this lady photographing the bride...

oh dear...
poor thing.

prints

i've been collecting prints over the past few years and
until now i haven't done anything about displaying them.

however, i bought an original 1967 cinema poster of the bobo
a few weeks ago

and yesterday i took it to a little place in clerkenwell to get it framed.

i decided to get the rest of my prints out to have a look at. to decide
if i should get any of them framed or not

so here they are...

here's a close-up of the above print

football art

i bought this print in barcelona years ago

it's a parody of goya's 3rd of may painting

dr. marion north

i found this print on friday.
it's a portrait i took of dr. marion north, the director of laban dance studio
about 6 or 7 years ago.

i just thought i'd show it here.

everybody at laban was a little bit scared of her.
i was warned that she did not like having her photograph taken
and was quite short tempered...

but i found her to be a sweet lady.

my weekend...

i didn't take many photo's this weekend, but here they are anyway.

first up, a saturday morning trip to fernandez and wells
where gordon the barista who did this...
knocked up a perfect latte for me.

it was a bit daaaaaark ( as darren jack would say ) in this branch
so i took my coffee outside to photograph it.

afterwards we had a look around selfridges.
in the book department i spotted some of my favourite welsh noir novels...

i recommend them most heartily.

feeling more peckish than somewhat, we took a drive to the bull and last.
the menu looked interesting...

what the what ?!

take a closer look...

!

i was a bit hank marvin and also unsure regarding how well endowed skates were
so i plumped for the burger

the pickles had no chance and grrr ! triple cooked chips...

jackie also plumped for the burger. here is what they gave her

and here is the version they gave me

nice and tidy !

let's have a closer look at the controversial member of the chip family

yeah whatever...

moving on to sunday. what can i say ? every time i dine at the table
i always forget to ask for breakfast without salad. today i plumped for poached eggs
on toast with a side of bacon only to for it to arrive infront of me
swimming in greens !

i managed to pick around the salad and i finished a fair amount of
the breakfast...

then i ordered up a flat white.

which turned out to be a lot stronger than wigan athletic's defence.

grrr !
