new york story part 6: another breakfast, more self-portraits

what can i say ? i like the style of the hudson hotel and i like to take self-portraits.
i think this was on my second morning. in my room ready to head out for brekky.

here's a wider shot
it's a nice room eh ?

one more cheeky self-portrait, well... kind of.
no... this must have been when i got in at night because the bed is made.
it certainly didn't look like that in the morning after my attempted sleep.

this was in the morning though. in the lift on the way down to the lobby.
hmmm it must have been about 6am and i hadn't sorted my barnet out yet.

the lobby was empty
perfect.

while it was so empty, i did a few more self-portraits.
on one side of the escalator...

... and on the other side too
learning to love yourself, is the greatest love of all.

and again... the view going down the escalator
and heading out into the cold for the one minute walk to the flame.

in a minute or so i was looking down at this
coffee, as black as h.h.h. ( my family know what that means )

of course coffee was only one part of my beverage line-up
iced water and fresh orange juice were involved in this breakfast too.

day two. another day, another breakfast... well, not quite.
i enjoyed it so much on my first morning that once again i opted for the
'hot and fruity' from the extensive menu.

after breakfast i walked back to the hotel and took advantage of the early hour
to shoot a few frames in the library bar
have you ever been to the hudson hotel ?
i know it gets bitched up a bit for having snooty staff and for having tiny rooms,
but i've always found the staff to be perfectly fine and although most of the rooms
are perhaps on the small side... well they are incredibly well designed.
the communal parts of the hotel are also stunning, i mean not many hotels
have a room like this eh ? a bar with comfy seating, lots of books and magazines
to read and also a big pool table. it's a stunning room.

the week the hudson hotel opened i had a great night on this pool table

me, alan batter, moby and a.j from the backstreet boys playing doubles.
it was a crazy night !

i was on form that night. originally we were playing singles and i kept winning.
when the others turned up we offered to play doubles and the bloke from
the backstreet boys said "ok... but i'm on mark's side"
golden times !

as well as pool, you can always sit down for a quick game of chess

or you can just sit down and take a photo of yourself in a fantastic room

and then take another one
this room is a good effort from morgans hotel group.

if you're looking for a hotel in new york, it's worth checking the hudson out.
