jane austen's house

on the way home from the wedding, on sunday, we stopped off in chawton to
have a look around jane austen's house.

before we went in, we stopped at a quaint little tea shop just opposite.
i had a black coffee and a toasted teacake. here's the coffee...
splendid !

look at the ceiling display...
i say !

now where abouts is jane austen's house ?
oh that's right.

two illustrations took my fancy in the house. firstly this one from 'pride and prejudice'
"she is tolerable"

( excellent line )

also i liked this illustration very much...
it's from 'persuasion'. sir walter elliot asking "in the name of heaven, who is that old fellow ?"

indeed.

  1. Crikey, that old fellow has stolen the Markie pose! He needs to learn to look at the camera though.

  2. Mark, these are lovely. You have a wonderful eye. The tea cups are fab. Do you have more of the house I could feature on my blog?
