saturday night at the west house biddenden

on saturday night we went for a meal at an amazing restaurant in biddenden, kent.
it's called the west house and the chef graham garrett is some sort of genius.

it was a little to daaaarrrk to take photos of my food but i had to try. so sorry if these pics are not all that, but i just had to show you.

the starter i chose was simply called 'ham and egg'
the ham thing was amazing enough, but the bad boy on the right... it was a black pudding scotch egg ! unbelievable ! i almost cried as i ate it. it was pure genius... like a diamond bullet through the temple. as i ate it i had a moment of clarity and all became well in my world...

er, anyway... the scotch egg was quite nice...

i should have taken a photo of my plate after i'd finished. it looked exactly the same but minus the ham and the egg. what i'm saying is, no way was i eating the homemade piccalilli. it's just not my thing.
graham came over to our table later for a chat and he said he smiled when he saw the plate come back to the kitchen with the line of piccalilli untouched. ( he knows my methods )

once again it was dark and this photo cannot do the dish any justice...
main course, pigs cheeks and chorizo.
this dish usually comes with baby carrots but i asked for it without and graham substituted them with peas. there were also some bonus potatoes in there.
i know the photo is no good but trust me, this dish was off the hook.

dessert was so incredible, that when graham came over later, i told him that he was a bit of a willy wonka. i won't say any more about it except that it was called 'crunchie' and you should all get yourselves a table at the west house and order it.

it's one of the few restaurants in kent to hold a michelin star and well worth a visit.

maybe tell them i sent you ?
