the other day i had a look around the haunch of venison. it's a beautiful building and always seems to hold interesting exhibitions.
in the first room of the exhibition was this...
a load of life size ceramic dogs suspended below a track.
visitors are invited to press the pedal which then moves the track. the dogs bash into each other as they swing along and shatter. the broken pieces are left on the floor where they fall.
poor lassie
lassie wont be coming home
here are two japanese tourists... too polite to press the pedal
and two english girls about to cause dog mayhem
this is a hard one to illustrate as it doesn't look like this when you're there...
this is a 15 second exposure at f1.7
it was taken in a room which is in almost total darkness. the room is almost the size of
a tennis court i guess and is made into a maze. the borders of the maze are decorated with plastic flowers with tiny little lights along the edges of the flowers. they just about light the edges of the maze. it's an amazing exhibit and quite a strange experience making your way through the maze in almost total darkness.
in another room is this...
an eight foot high cupcake
the base of the cupcake is made out of a load of metal pretzels
the next layer up is made from metal pears
then white berries, then strawberries on top.
perhaps the most impressive part of the show was the crochet work.
check this out... a piano and stool all covered in crochet.
most impressive.
look at these ladies...
they kind of remind me of somebody...
maybe a singer ?...
oh... i'm sure it will come to me later...
anyway, look at these... crochet covered animals. there's sammy the crab.
my feelings towards cats are well known in north london...
even the crocheted version annoyed me.
i liked this fellow though...
no bull.
now i know who this whole crochet thing reminds me of...
lady gaga
er, i mean... lady gaga
anyway. haunch of venison... check it.
Hmmm. The crochet ladies gave me a Lene Lovich vibe. I'm not sure why.
