on saturday after breakfast i took a bus to the british museum.
the british museum has a massive hall dedicated to ancient relics from wales
perfect.
oh, it also has the rosetta stone on show
i don't know if the bored looking girl with pink hair was taking a photo or texting a friend.
sure, the rosetta stone was bringing them in... but i was all about the welsh relics...
this one is from wrexham. it has a north wales style about it.i think this fellow is from south wales
possibly swansea
i'm not sure about this bad boy
but he has a most excellent beard.
ah... the sacred welsh catgod
hmmm... i think the catgod has boobs... that's wrong.
before the welsh language evolved into it's current state.
the language of heaven, the language of the new millennium...
well, before that, the welsh people used to write in a different style, using a
series of symbols.
top harvard symbologist professor robert langdon translated this piece...
his findings were that this was a page from an early welsh cookbook and is one of
the first recipes for making cawl.
these days lamb is used as the main ingredient, but back in the day, blackbirds
were just as acceptable.
the final exhibit in the welsh wing of the british museum was this...
it's a naive representation of john toshack.
this actually dates back to the early 1970's when he left the green green grass of home to sign for liverpool football club
there was a lot of photography going on at the museum.
apart from me shooting the welsh artifacts i spotted the following people and styles...
naturally, the courtyard outside was full of japanese tourists
i'm guessing the boys were making v signs with their fingers.
i'm not sure if these girls were japanese or chinese but they favoured the phone as a camera
and seemed a bit nervous about taking photos.
this girl looked japanese. she had that certain style.
i like that she wore a bowler hat... with headphones over the top !
i think this old fellow was from the usa
he favoured the off-camera flash technique and was working it
in every room.
this girl was english. she went for the lazy style...
shooting from a distance with her mobile phone while her boyfriend rested
on the fashion front, two jackets caught my eye.
firstly this old lady wore a coat with loads of sew-on patches
i liked it very much
they were mainly patches from charity swims.
yes, i liked this jacket very much
i must say though, that my favourite jacket at the museum was worn by mrs w
you know how i love tweed !
i took one last photo of mrs w with a welsh temple behind her
then we headed off to soho in search of good coffee
nos da.
