sumudu at caffe nero

on friday evening i took a trip to caffe nero at piccadilly circus.
the reason for me visiting this establishment was not out of my desire to sample
their coffee... no, i was there to see my friend sumudu.

sumudu is a very talented singer who i've known for quite a few years now,
and for september 2010 she is caffe nero's artist of the month.
funnily enough, as i parked up around the corner, sumudu parked just behind me.
i helped her in with her kit and the manager of caffe nero thought i was in her band
so i was given a free coffee. what a touch.

here's sumudu playing her first song of the evening
well... it made me laugh

ok, here she is...

and here she is with her band. phil on bass and mez on cajon
( i have a few health and safety issues with the cables by the way )

here's the view from piccadilly looking in

and here's the view of the coffee drinking audience from my seat
the little girl was dancing like a good un.

mid-way through her second song, this bloke came in and stood right at the front
at first i thought it was my friend graham in disguise.
then i thought that perhaps it was a homeless person...

then he sat down, started taking notes and i realised...
adidas tracky bottoms, big beard... he was a record company executive.

check out sumudu's website. she's got a great hobson's

(  the main photo on the website is one of mine by the way )
