converse x maison martin margiela chuck taylor all stars

it's bean a while since i did a proper shoe review.

i have so many great sneakers to show you properly and in close-up detail.

i think from now until the end of the year i'm going to have to do one a week at least.

let's start with these things
converse x maison martin margiela

as ever, with converse first string releases, it's all about the details.
inside the box, a cotton drawstring branded bag.

inside the bag
well even if you hadn't heard about this collab you'd be getting the idea by now...

it's all about the colour white
maison martin margiela took the converse 70's chucks in red, black
and yellow...

and dipped them all in white paint.
can you see what they did ?
absolutely covered in white paint.
clogging up the eyelets.

even the rubber soles were covered in white paint.
hmmm...

here's a shot where you can see the metallic eyelets and even the laces
all coated in white paint.

the ankle patch, just about visible.
what do you think of the idea ?
good ? bad ? interesting ?

the sneakers themselves are quality. the first string 70's chucks
lined in soft leather with signature mmm printed logo.

and leather insoles
with drips of paint spilled onto them.

a last detail
the chuck taylor all star rubber patch on the heel... covered in paint.

and the first time i wore them they looked like this.
pristine. whiter than white.

the idea is that each person's shoes will age differently with wear.

do you think i let mine wear naturally ?

do you want to see how mine look now after a couple of weeks of wearing them ?

of course you do.

and of course i'll show you.

tomorrow.

  1. you know i have no real interest in shoes but i have to say i've really missed your regular sneaker reviews recently. the enthusiasm is catching.

i'm tempted to get some converse chucks myself and paint them black. maybe red or orange fabric underneath? probably a bit cheaper than these mmm versions i'll wager....
