as part of my shoot for 'made in camden' i had to take some portraits
of some of the key people involved in the restaurant.
this is jasper. he supplies the beer.
this was taken with an 8mm lens on a lumix gf1
for this shot i used a 21mm lens on a leica m9
and finally a head and shoulders effort using a 50mm f1.1 lens
these were all shot at jasper's brewery in camden.
this is jo. she supplies the wine to made in camden
this is in a small tasting room in her offices. rather than have her standing up or sat on a stool, i thought it would be more interesting to photograph her sitting on some wine boxes as she samples a glass of red.
i had another idea, which i think would have made a good shot but would be of absolutely no use to the client. it was to ask her to sit on the floor and have a few bottles scattered around her... maybe a few glasses too. ( i kept that suggestion to myself by the way )
the client wanted some shots in black and white. i think this frame works quite well.
g-fog was holding my light just behind me. i used a small softbox on a quantum t2.
grrr ! the more i think about it, i wished i'd asked her to sit on the floor for a couple of frames. it would have made an interesting shot, especially in black and white.
back at the restaurant i had to do a portrait of the man who designed the place.
he designed the chairs, the tables, the banquettes. he's the top man.
in a touch of genius he even managed to use tweed in the place !
ladies and gentlemen i give you...
michael sodeau
like a boss !
