new sofa

it's new sofa time at whitfield towers.
for maybe 12 years now we've had this effort...
it's called a fly sofa and was designed by michael young.
i really like it. it fits in well with the rest of whitfield towers and has a groovy
60's style. it looked the part when we had a couple of arne jacobsen egg chairs
( as seen in the blog header pic )

since the egg chairs went and the eames lounger came to stay, we decided
to get rid of the fly and bring in something new.
the first idea was to replace it with another eames lounger, but in the end
we thought the place really needs a sofa rather than two loungers.

so, here's a poor photoshop representation of what the lounge will hopefully
look like in a few weeks...
( i had a nightmare with photoshop yesterday and only had a black and white photocopy
of the sofa to work with )

the sofa ( i don't know if it has a name ) was designed by william plunkett in 1966.
we're getting it finished in a dark purple leather by the way.

the fly sofa i am reliably informed is quite collectable and also out of
production. these are phrases i will be littering in it's description on ebay in a few weeks time.
i will also use the phrase 'very comfortable' though i will neglect to follow it up with the
words 'compared to sitting on the floor'

sofa so good ?
