this is what arrived from california last week
a pair of air force 1 insideout from the nordic pack which was released a few years ago.
before we get into the details, here's a view of the shoes
it's all about the details with these bad boys
they come with a tag / booklet which has details of the new zealand merino wool
which is used in the construction of the shoes, and an alternative pair of laces
the laces supplied with these are a bit special
they are made out of a rough straw-like material. they feel a bit like old rope...
( yes i really did pay money for old rope ! )
the toe box is constructed from the 100% new zealand merino wool.
photos don't do it justice to be honest. you have to touch these to appreciate them.
these are a winter sneaker i suppose. they have the feel of a walking shoe.
the materials used throughout are pretty special and most parts of this af-1
use materials i've never seen on any other.
for instance, the tip, the eye stay and the foxing are all made from brown waxed leather
the leather seems like it's definitely been treated for waterproofing
the shoe sits on a black anthracite waxed leather wrap midsole and a light brown outsole
the swoosh is in the black anthracite too.
the mid panel has a gore tex material with a pattern running through it of cross country skier
the tongue is constructed from a red gore tex material
with a waxed leather tab
the insole shows a map of norway
and the heel tab is finished in the black waterproofed leather
with contrasting red stitching
these are far from being my favourite af-1's. they are more interesting than anything.
the materials used are top notch and i reckon they'd be good for a long walk
or for wearing on an outdoor shoot in autumn / winter.
talking of which, it's still pretty cold in n7 and i'm going for a long walk today...
bringing heat to the streets of n7
( hopefully )
These are beautiful.
ReplyDeletethanks. i wore them for the first time yesterday and i thought they looked very nice. more like a shoe than a trainer.
ReplyDeletecomfortable, but the laces hurt your fingers when you tie them !
