criterion

last night mr and mrs whitfield went out for a meal*
criterion restaurant

it is without doubt one of the most spectacular
restaurant interiors in the country
i think only the ritz can rival it for old style glamour.

( i didn't take any photo's last night but the photo's here
were all taken by me during the past two months )

when we sat at our table we were given a glass of
champagne. what a nice touch.

for starter i had scallops with black pudding
wrapped in parma ham, and pea puree.
it was off the hook 10/10

for main course i tucked into something similar to this
fillet steak with fois gras and pont neuf
potatoes
similar to this because i had mine without the
spinach... textbook move from me.

check it out from above
this was absolutely cracking. the ricki lake was perfect,
the jockeys almost brought tears to my eyes.
once again 10/10 for criterion

i'm not really a fan of desserts but the two jokers at the
table next to us had pear tarte tatin which looked incredible
so when the waiter came over i simply said " i'll have what he's having "
and gestured with my thumb...
not the classiest move from me but it all worked out well.
the dessert, like the rest of the meal was superb.

i can't recommend the place highly enough.
it's a real experience dining in such a beautiful room.
the service was first class and the food was
both outstanding and fairly priced.

* in a shock move i didn't wear trainers. also i didn't
have a coffee
